One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest, the Best Picture Oscar winner when it was originally released in theaters in 1975, has one of Jack Nicholson’s greatest performances (he also won the Oscar that year for best actor).
Based on the literary classic by Ken Kesey, the drama film follows Nicholson, a misbehaved con man who convinces the court he’s insane to get out of jail. He ends up in an asylum and discovers it’s a worse prison. He bucks against the rules and regulations set by the stiff Nurse Ratched (Lousie Fletcher, who won the best actress Oscar), and eventually, his rebellious actions start to bring life to the other inmates, but with consequences. Also in the cast are Brad Dourif (who was nominated for best supporting actor), Christopher Lloyd, Vincent Schiavelli and Danny DeVito.
The movie also won Academy Awards for best director and best adapted screenplay, and won six Golden Globes.
This isn’t the Blu-ray debut for this movie, which came out in 2008, but this release does add all the collectibles.
