New Release: The Good Heart DVD

The Good Heart movie sceneSundance award-winning drama movie The Good Heart, starring Brian Cox (Ironclad) as an alcoholic owner of a gritty New York dive bar, was released on DVD on Aug. 10, 2010, from Magnolia Home Entertainment.

The film, which also stars Little Miss Sunshine‘s Paul Dano, tells the story of Jacques (Cox) who’s drinking and smoking himself to death when he meets Lucas (Dano), a homeless man who has given up on life. Jacques becomes a mentor to Lucas, seeing the young man as a chance to keep his legacy alive. Jacques teaches Lucas the male-centric laws of the alcoholic clubhouse, which include absolutely no women. But their friendship is put to the test when Lucas insists they hels a distraught and beautiful young women (Isild Le Besco, Girls Can’t Swim) who arrives at the bar seeking shelter.

The Good Heart had a very limited run in theaters, grossing about $20,000 on a handful of screens.

The drama won the Sundance NHK Filmmakers Award, which recognizes visionary directors from around the world.

The movie was available for digital download through iTunes, Amazon Video On Demand, Xbox Live and PlayStation Store before it’s DVD debut.
