News: Image Entertainment Makes Latest Output Deal with New Films International

Richard Dreyfuss stars in The Lightkeepers.

Image Entertainment has signed on to exclusively distribute all New Films International/New Films Cinema theatrical titles for home entertainment in the U.S. and Canada. The deal covers DVD, digital, television, pay-per-view and video-on-demand rights to all New Films’ current and future titles.

No release dates for movies have been announced as of yet.

However, the distribution deal includes Chain Letter, starring Nikki Reed (the Twilight franchise) and Betsy Russell (Saw III, Saw IV), which New Films Cinema will release in the U.S. theatrically this October.

New Films’ previous theatrical release,  The Lightkeepers, opened theatrically in Los Angeles on May 7 and played in 15 U.S. markets. Though no DVD release date has been slated for The Lightkeepers, we’re predicting it will be issued in the fourth quarter.

Comedy The Lightkeepers was written and directed by Daniel Adams and stars Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss, Blythe Danner, Bruce Dern and Mamie Gummer. The movie concerns a privacy-embracing lighthouse keeper (Dreyfuss) who must deal with the appearance of two attractive women who move into a nearby cottage for the summer.
