Documentary Babies, which grossed $7 million in a limited release in theaters, debuted on DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 28, 2010, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
The movie by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Balmes follows four newborns from different corners of the world from birth to their first steps. The babies are Ponijao from Namibia, Bayarjargal from Mongolia, Mari from Tokyo and Hattie from San Francisco.
The Babies DVD and Blu-ray also contains the featurette “The Babies: Three Years Later,” looking at the now-four-year-old children and their parents.
Both the DVD and Blu-ray also include the featurette “Everybody Loves … Your Babies Sweepstakes Winners,” with the winning photos and videos of the fans of the movie.
Plus, the Blu-ray has Universal’s usual features for the high-definition format:
- BD-Live Internet access
- Pocket Blu app to make smart phones into remote controls
The PG movie only received a limited run in theaters, but debuted to good reviews. The DVD and Blu-ray, however, give the film its biggest audience.
Babies also was made available for digital download and video-on-demand on the same day as the DVD and Blu-ray release.
