Shout! Factory released the entire 1990s hit comedy TV show The Larry Sanders Show on DVD on Nov. 2, 2010.
The 17-DVD set includes all 89 episodes of the show, which starred Garry Shandling, Jeffrey Tambor and Rip Torn. The award-winning series, which aired on HBO from 1992 to 1998, follows the inner workings of a late-night talk show. The Hollywood satire explores the dynamic of Larry Sanders’ (Shandling) on-camera poise and backstage neurosis. Torn plays the show’s foul-mouthed producer, and Tambor is Sanders’ affection-hungry sidekick.
The show’s emsemble cast also includes Janeane Garofalo (TV’s 24) and Jeremy Piven (TV’s Entourage). Guest stars include Alec Baldwin (It’s Complicated), Sharon Stone ($5 a Day), Jim Carrey (The Truman Show), Robin Williams (Old Dogs), musician Tom Petty, comedians Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen DeGeneres, and radio personality Howard Stern.
During its run, the series won three Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, two TV Critics Awards, five CableACE Awards for Best Comedy Series and other honors.
