New Release: Daniel & Ana DVD

Strand Releasing issued the 2009 Mexican film Daniel & Ana on DVD on Oct. 12, 2010, for a suggested retail price of $24.99.

Written and directed by first-time filmmaker Michel Franco and produced by the team behind the 2002 drama The Crime of Father Amaro, one of Mexico’s highest grossing films, independent film Daniel and Ana concerns a pair of siblings (Dario Yazbeck Bernal and Marimar Vega) who are both at pivotal, defining moments in their lives. Ana is about to be married, and Daniel is a gregarious teenager discovering his personal and sexual identity. Yet their harmony is instantly shattered when they are kidnapped and made to engage in a taboo act that will force them to confront their desires and fears.

An official selection at the Cannes Director’s Fortnight and San Sebastian International Film Festival (where it received some very nice reviews), Daniel and Ana is unrated and presented on DVD in Spanish with English subtitles.
