New Release: The Big Shot-Caller DVD

Vanguard released the DVD of the romantic drama The Big Shot-Caller on Dec. 21, 2010, for a suggested retail price of $19.95.

The first movie helmed by music video director Marlene Rhein (Tupac Shakur’s “All About You,” Amy Winehouse’s “F**k Me Pumps”), the 2008, Latin-flavored independent film concerns lonely New York City accountant Jamie Lesser (David Rhein). Jamie counts among his accomplishments that as he child he watched the movie Strictly Ballroom 97 times and dreamed of being a salsa dancer.

When his heart is broken by a gorgeous Dominican girl (Lenaya Wiles) and his uninspired life goes from bad to worse, Jamie moves in with his estranged sister (Marlene Rhein), who convinces him to follow his childhood dreams. And that might just be exactly what he needed all along. Cue the dance classes and the inevitable competition.

The Big Shot-Caller played the Sedona Film Festival and the New York Latino Film Festival.
