Independent DVD and Blu-ray supplier Image Entertainment has purchased Madacy Home Video, the home entertainment division of Madacy Entertainment, in a multi-million-dollar deal. Included in the agreement are the name Madacy Home Video and rights to the company’s video library, which includes classic television titles, horror movies and special interest titles.

“Madacy has the rights to several gems from classic Hollywood as well as recently produced documentaries and special interest properties that will fit well within the Image family,” Image chairman and CEO Ted Green said in a statement. “This acquisition allows us to expand our library quickly while affording us properties to leverage across several platforms.”

Madacy has distributed more than 100 titles, including The Lucy Show, Bonanza, The Beverly Hillbillies, Hell in the Pacific and documentaries Our Planet Earth, World War II Battlefront and NASA: The Complete History.

Image, which signed a distribution deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in September, recently released classic TV shows Twilight Zone: Season 1 on Blu-ray and Thriller: The Complete Series on DVD, futuristic science-fiction thriller Eyeborgs and documentary Jimi Hendrix: The Guitar Hero.

Under the new acquisition deal, Madacy Entertainment retains a 30% interest in its former home entertainment division, but Image will acquire that last amount on or before Aug. 31, 2014.
