Vivendi Entertainment released H.R. Pufnstuf: The Complete Series and H.R. Pufnstuf: Complete Series Collector’s Edition on DVD on Jan. 18, 2011. The two editions of the popular live-action Saturday morning television show, produced by brothers Sid and Marty Krofft, carry the suggested retail prices of $24.99 and $34.97, respectively.
The TV series, which premiered in 1969, centers on an 11-year-old boy named Jimmy (Jack Wild) who takes a ride on a mysterious boat to the kooky and colorful Living Island, the home of dancing trees, singing frogs and the island’s mayor, a friendly, white-booted dragon named H.R. Pufnstuf. And let’s not forget about Living Island’s resident baddie, the villainous Witchiepoo (Billie Hayes).
The Krofft brothers have been producing entertainment treasured by families for more than 40 years. They rose to prominence in the 1970s with a series of programs that featured colorful sets and fanciful characters. H.R. Pufnstuf was the first in a long line of popular programs created by the Kroffts, including The Bugaloos, Land of the Lost, Sigmund & the Sea Monsters and Lidsville, to name a few. The Kroffts’ success led them to produce various primetime TV series and specials, including The Brady Bunch Hour, Donny & Marie and Barbara Mandrell & The Mandrell Sisters series.
The two new three-DVD H.R. Pufnstuf sets include all 17 episodes of the series, and, for the first time on DVD, the rare pilot episode, “Horror Hotel.” The Collector’s Edition also contains a collectible H.R. Pufnstuf bobblehead.
Apart from the pilot episode, the set’s only other bonus feature is a downloadable vintage H.R. Pufnstuf music and coloring book.

Man I used to watch this all the time… even though it creeped me out as a kid.
I remember that weird flute character…. shiver!
I liked it, too, but I was definitely more into Lidsville, the Krofft show where the kid went to the magical land of hat-people and the evil Charles Nelson Reilly, who rode around in a flying top hat.
Hi, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam responses? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can suggest? I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any support is very much appreciated.North Richland Hills Roofing, 6749 Manor Dr., North Richland Hills, TX 76180 – (817) 381-1700
