Two thrillers opened in theaters on Oct. 4, 2010, and were largely ignored despite decent reviews: Let Me In and Case 39. The latter, starring Renee Zellweger (Cold Mountain), came to DVD and Blu-ray first, on Jan. 4, 2011, from Paramount Home Entertainment.
Grossing $13 million in theaters, Case 39 stars Zellweger as a social worker who is assigned the case of Lillith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), a girl with a mysterious past. When Zellweger opens her home to Lillith, her life turns into a deadly nightmare.
Bradley Cooper (The A-Team) and Ian McShane (The Pillars of the Earth) also star in the movie.
On DVD, Case 39 was priced at $29.99 and at $39.99 on high-definition Blu-ray.
Both include these special features:
- 18 deleted scenes, including an alternate ending
- featurette “File Under ‘Evil’: Inside Case 39“
- featurette “Turning Up the Heat on the Chill Factor”
- featurette “Inside the Hornet’s Nest”
- and featurette “Playing With Fire.”
