Released only in a limited number of theaters in the U.S., comedy movie Tamara Drewe made its DVD and Blu-ray debut on Feb. 8, 2011, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.
The British movie, directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen and High Fidelity) stars busy actress Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans, The Disappearance of Alice Creed) as Drewe, a newspaper writer who returns to her hometown in the English countryside when her childhood home is going to be sold. Now a glamorous columnist — with a new nose to boot — Drewe turns out not to be the innocent girl everyone in town remembers, and she quickly ignites passion in the men, swirling the country town into a maelstrom of seduction and gossip. But when lives and loves are put at risk, Drewe has to choose between getting it all and getting the one.
The R-rated film, which is based on the graphic novel by Posy Simmonds, also stars Dominic Cooper (An Education) and Luke Evans (Robin Hood).
The DVD was priced at $28.95, with the Blu-ray at $38.96.
Both discs include these special features:
- commentary with Arterton and Evans
- making-of featurette
- and featurette “Reconstructing Tamara Drewe.”
