Independent film studio MTI explored the soul with its horror movie Respire, which was released on DVD and video-on-demand on Feb. 15, 2011.
The premise of the spooky film stands on the ancient Roman belief that the soul escapes a person’s body in their last breath, and subsequently, this last breath holds the power to cure disease and prolong life. And in the 1930s, Dr. Robert Kaminsky devoted his life to finding how to harness that power.
Respire stars Tracy Teague (TV’s The Wire) as the owner of a novelty shop who brings in a box once owned by Kaminsky that gets the interest of two men each with different motives. Teague is quickly pulled into a struggle to protect the box and its secrets.
The 90-minute movie wasn’t been released in theaters, so it’s a DVD premiere.
MTI gave Respire, which is rated R, cool box art for the DVD.
Priced at $24.95, the DVD includes a bunch of special features:
- behind-the-scenes
- stills in motion: The Asylum photos and the Auction House
- alternate cut
- music video
- and a gag reel.
