New Release: Carmo Hit the Road DVD

First Run Features released the Brazilian screwball comedy Carmo Hit the Road on DVD on Feb. 22, 2011.

The movie is about Marco (Fele Martinez), a lonely handicapped Spanish smuggler who’s driving through Brazil to sell his cheap goods.

When two bandits assault him and steal his load, he is saved by Carmo (Mariana Loureiro), a beautiful local girl who would rather die than spend another day in the hellish Brazilian border town where she lives. An unlikely romance unfolds as the two are chased through a South American landscape by bandidos and the police.

Directed by Murilo Pasta, the 2008 foreign film played at festivals around the world, including Cannes and Sundance, before receiving a limited, well-reviewed theatrical release in the U.S. in October.

No special features are on the Carmo Hit the Road DVD.

Presented in Spanish and Portuguese with English subtitles, the DVD carries a list price of $27.95.
