The Way Back movie sceneNominated for an Academy Award for best makeup, drama movie The Way Back was released on DVD and Blu-ray on April 22, 2011, from Image Entertainment.

Produced by Newmarket Films, The Way Back stars Colin Farrell (Crazy Heart), Ed Harris (National Treasure: Book of Secrets), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), Jim Sturgess (The Other Boleyn Girl) and Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones) in a story about escapees from a Siberian gulag who, in 1940, walk 4,000 miles and across five countries to freedom in India.

The film is based on the memoir The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom by Slavomir Rawicz.

The movie was directed by Peter Weir, helmer of such acclaimed dramas as Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, The Truman Show, Dead Poets Society and The Mosquito Coast.

The Way Back released a limited theatrical release in the U.K. and opened in a limited theatrical release in the U.S. last weekend.
