IFC released the 2009 French comedy Change of Plans, written and directed by Daniele Thompson (Jet Lag, Avenue Montaigne), on DVD on Feb. 22, 2011.
The movie centers on a group of 11 acquaintances gathered for a dinner party in Paris. It’s not long before the various couples begin revealing their dissatisfaction with their partners – and it becomes clear that they are all either about to start an affair, are in the midst of one, or about to end one, sometimes with others in the group.
The hosts of the party are powerful attorney ML (Karin Viard, Delicatessen) and her husband Piotr (Dany Boon (Micmacs), who’s on hiatus from work. Their guests include a movie costume designer (Marina Hands, Lady Chatterley), an oncologist (Patrick Bruel, O Jerusalem), a gynecologist (Marina Foïs, The Big Picture) and the wife (Emmanuele Seigner, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, La Vie en Rose) of an arrogant lawyer.
The film proceeds with a splintered chronology, shifting back and forth between the party and the events of a year later, when the lasting effects of all the audacious comments, blowups, flirtations and decisions made during the party are revealed.
Change of Plans, which is presented on DVD in French with English subtitles, received a limited theatrical release in the U.S. in October 2010.
No special features are on the DVD, which carries a list price of $24.98.
