The 1979 animated version of The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe returned to DVD on May 31, 2011, from Warner Home Video and BBC Video.
Based on the second novel in the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis, this version is one of the most loved adaptations of the fantasy children’s novel about four children who find a hidden world in a wardrobe. The movie is directed by Bill Melendez, director of a score of the much loved Charlie Brown movies, including It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
The voice cast includes Leo McKern (TV’s Rumpole of the Bailey), Nicholas Barnes (TV’s Heidi), Sheila Hancock (The Boy in the Striped Pajamas) and Arthur Lowe (TV’s Bless Me Father). The TV show won a Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Animation Program and was nominated for Outstanding Individual Achievement — Animation Program.
The DVD was priced at $14.98.
Walt Disney Studios rebooted the Narnia franchise in 2005 with a live-action movie based on The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe. The latest film in that series, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, arrived on DVD and Blu-ray in April 2011.

This was where I was first introduced to the story… very cool!
Yeah, this is a great version, Naz. Looking forward to seeing it again. Too bad it’s not Blu-ray, but hopefully we’ll get a high-definition version soon.
