New Release: The Last Legion Blu-ray

The Last Legion movie scene

Aishwarya Rai takes aim at the target--as Colin Firth takes aim at her--in The Last Legion .

On April 19, 2011, The Weinstein Company released the Blu-ray edition of the medieval epic The Last Legion, starring Oscar-nominee Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Oscar-winner Ben Kingsley (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) and international sex symbol Aishwarya Rai (The Pink Panther 2).

The DVD edition of the 2007 film was issued by Weinstein four years ago and is still available.

Produced by the De Laurentiis clan and directed by Doug Lefler (Dragonheart: A New Beginning), the sword-and-sandal spectacle opens amidst the crumbling of the Roman empire. It focuses on young Romulus Augustus (Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Nowhere Boy) as he flees the city and embarks on a perilous voyage to Britain to track down a legion of supporters. He eventually joins with a well-appointed warrior (Firth), his mysterious but shapely sides (Rai) and a mystical-fighter-turned-spiritual-teacher (Kingsley).

No bonus features are on the new Blu-ray release, which is priced at $19.97
