As a sci-fi geek, I’m not ashamed to admit I love SyFy TV shows Eureka and Warehouse 13. Warehouse 13: Season 2 arrived on June 28, 2011, and Eureka: Season 4.0 on July 5, 2011, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
In Warehouse 13, Saul Rubinek (Barney’s Version) plays the head of a secret government department that hunts down and stores such supernatural objects as Icarus’ wings and Edgar Alan Poe’s pen, which when used, can end disastrously. The show stars Eddie McClintock (TV’s Bones) and Joanne Kelly (TV’s The Dresden Files) as former Secret Service agents who get recruited to work at Warehouse 13 tracking down the mythical artifacts and Jaime Murray (TV’s Spartacus: Gods of the Arena) as the infamous H.G. Wells.
The three-disc set contains 12 episodes, including the Warehouse 13–Eureka crossover episode “Crossing Over,” and these special features:
- deleted scenes
- a gag reel
- video blogs
- a photo gallery
- commentaries with executive producer Jack Kenny and stars McClintock, Kelly, Rubinek and Allison Scagliotti on three episodes, “Time Will Tell,” “Merge With Caution” and “Reset”
- featurette “A Thrillercomedy” with the cast and crew discussing the show’s evolution and relationships
- behind-the-scenes featurette “A Stitch in Time” about the Wells
- and featurette “Designing the Warehouse,” in which the cast and crew reveal the inspiration for the design of the warehouse and its artifacts.
Eureka is about another secret government installation, a remote town where the country’s most brilliant scientists live inventing the impossible every day — and often getting into trouble. Colin Ferguson (Lake Placid 3) plays the sheriff who has to keep them in line, with Salli Richardson-Whitfield (I Am Legend) as his on-again-off-again love interest, Erica Cerra (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief) as his gun-happy deputy and Joe Morton (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) as his best friend. In season four, Ferguson must investigate why random objects keep appearing around town and people keep turning to stone, among other issues.
The two-DVD set includes all episodes from the fourth season and these special features:
- the Warehouse 13 crossover episode
- deleted scenes
- a gag reel
- commentary with co-creator/writer/executive producer Jaime Paglia, director Matt Hastings and executive producer Bruce Miller on episode “Founder’s Day”
- and featurette “In the Beginning: Camp Eureka 1947,” a look at how modern geniuses brought 1947 Camp Eureka to life in the season premiere.
Here’s the trailer for Eureka season four, which starts with some good old fashioned time traveling:
