Guy Pearce searches for answers in In Her Skin.

IFC released the 2009 Australian thriller In Her Skin, based on the true story of a 1999 abduction and murder in Melbourne, on DVD on June 7, 2011.

The directorial debut of Simone North, writer of TV movie Through Her Eyes (she also wrote In Her Skin), the film boasts the impressive cast of Guy Pearce (Memento), Sam Neill (Daybreakers) and Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings).

The film’s story revolves around a 19-year-old named Caroline (Ruth Bradley) who stalks, abducts and ultimately slays 15-year-old Rachel Barber (Kate Bell), who Caroline idolizes and considers to be “perfect.” Rachel’s disappearance prompts her parents (Pearce, Otto) to take action, though the police seem to be indifferent about the situation. The truth eventually comes out, but not without a price.

Entitled I Am You for much of its international release, In Her Skin received a tiny release in theaters in the U.S. in February 2011 but more or less premiered on these shores on DVD.

No bonus features are on the DVD, which carries a list price of $24.98.
