Grand battles and epic adventures are on tap in Legend of the Millennium Dragon.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the new anime adventure movie Legend of the Millennium Dragon on Oct. 4, 2011, as a Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack for the list price of $45.99.

A 2011 movie was produced by the highly regarded Japanese animation house Studio Pierrot, the creators of the popular Naruto and Bleach films.

Legend of the Millennium Dragon (Onigamiden in its native Japanese) is an epic animated film about a middle school boy who journeys into a mysterious past full of monsters, dragons, and strange hidden powers. Encountering one adventure and battle after another, shy Jun is slowly transformed into a hero destined to battle evil and ensure peace and tranquility in the world.

Directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki and based on Takafumi Takada’s two-volume novel Onigamiden, the film premiered at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles July 1-4, 2011.

As a bonus feature, the Blu-ray includes a concept art gallery with never before released artwork from the film.
