GiaAlthough it wasn’t her first movie, the film that made audiences and critics alike pay attention to Angelina Jolie (Salt) was Gia, and the role earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.

Gia Blu-ray boxAired on HBO in 1998, Gia tells the true story of America’s first supermodel, Gia Carangi (Jolie). In 1970s New York, Gia appears to have it all — money, power and fame — but she quickly gets drawn down by life in the fast lane, including drugs.

The biography drama also stars Faye Dunaway (Network), who won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress; Mercedes Reuhl (Big); Elizabeth Mitchell (TV’s V) and Mila Kunis (Black Swan).

For its high-definition debut, Gia was remastered, according to HBO.
