Unhappy Birthday movie sceneHunky British TV personality David Paisley (TV’s Holby’s City) stars in the sexy 2010 horror-suspense movie Unhappy Birthday.

The British film tells the tale of a young man and his secret gay lover who conspire to surprise their friend Sadie on her birthday. Arriving for their getaway on the remote isle of Amen, Rick (Paisley), Jonny (Jonathan Keane) and Sadie (Christine De Vallee) meet the mysterious Corinne (Jill Riddiford of Our Friends in the North ), only to realize that things aren’t going quite the way they had planned…

The first movie co-written and co-directed by Mark Harriott and Mike Matthews, Unhappy Birthday is inspired by such classic British horror films as The Wicker Man. It was filmed on location in Northumberland in the North East of England and on the picturesque tidal island of Lindisfarne.

Unhappy Birthday is a familiar movie on the LGBT film festival circuit. It debuted at London’s LGBT Film Festival in the U.K. and played at San Francisco’s Frameline, a regular Stateside LGBT festival stop.

The DVD includes a behind-the-scenes featurette.

Have a look at the trailer, which shows the movie definitely has an independent film feel:
