Anna Faris (Take Me Home Tonight) looks for love in her exes in the romantic comedy movie What’s Your Number?, which is an Unrated Ex-tended Cut on DVD and Blu-ray.
Rated R, the film is based on Karyn Bosnak‘s novel 20 Times a Lady.
Faris plays marketing executive Ally Darling who, after dating 20 losers, thinks she’ll never find a good guy. Until she meets one of her exes and discovers he has turned into Prince Charming. With the help of her playboy neighbor (Chris Evans, Captain America), Ally tracks down all her execs to see if one has turned into her true love.
The movie also stars Chris Pratt (Deep in the Valley), Joel McHale (Spy Kids 4: All the TIme in the World), Andy Samberg (Friends With Benefits), Blythe Danner (Waiting for Forever) and Ed Begley Jr. (Fatal Secrets).
In France, What’s Your Number? was called (S)ex List, which might have brought in a bigger audience if it had been used in the U.S. too. What’s Your Number? grossed a poor $14 million in wide release in theaters domestically.
Of course, not great reviews couldn’t have helped the film either. Although praising the comedy chops of Faris, critics generally didn’t approve of the movie itself. Jeff Bayer of The Scorecard Review said, “If anything, it feels like What’s Your Number? is the worst version of what Bridesmaids could have been. It just doesn’t have heart, and every joke feels completely forced and obvious.” Not exactly an invitation to a good time.
Perhaps the extended cut of the movie is better. The DVD and Blu-ray include both the version shown in theaters and an unrated extended version.
Both contain these special features:
- extended flashback dates
- deleted scenes
- gag reel.
The Blu-ray is a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and includes a downloadable digital copy of the film.
The movie trailer looks appropriately funny. Check it out:
