Isabelle Huppert puts herself together in Special Treatment.

The always-game Isabelle Huppert (White Material) stars in the 2010 French erotic comedy-drama Special Treatment from cult filmmaker Jeanne Labrune (Special Delivery).

Huppert portrays a high-class prostitute named Alice who serves up sexual fantasies for her clientele, from schoolgirl innocence to S&M. Fed up with the seamy underbelly of French masculinity, Alice crosses paths with Xavier (Bouli Lanners, A Very Long Engagement), a neurotic psychoanalyst facing a marriage crisis. The two quickly realize their professions share a thing or two in common as they navigate the overlapping worlds of psychotherapy and sex therapy.

Following its rollout to theaters and festivals in Europe and Asia, Special Treatment received a limited theatrical release in the U.S. in August 2011. The movie received so-so reviews, though Ms. Huppert was generally lauded for her acting efforts.

Presented in French with English subtitles, the DVD of the film includes a Q&A with director Labrune as well as a filmmaker bio.
