The 2010 music-filled documentary film John Mellencamp: It’s About You takes a close look at the recent goings-on in the life and career of the well-known Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee of “Jack & Diane” and “Pink Houses” fame.
The movie’s co-directors, photographer Kurt Marcus and his son Ian, travel along with Mellencamp on his 2009 concert tour with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. They also film the writing and recording of Mellencamp’s acclaimed 2010 album No Better Than This, the sessions for which took place at several American musical landmarks, including Memphis’s legendary Sun Studio. Along the way, the ever-American rocker discusses his life, career and feelings about the state of the country.
The unrated It’s About You received a limited release to U.S. theaters in 2012, where it garnered generally favorable reviews. It premieres on premium cable channel Showtime in May, 2012.
No bonus features have been announced for the DVD and Blu-ray.
