Bait 3D movie sceneA pack of bloodthirsty sharks terrorize a group of innocents–for a change–in the 2012 Australian thriller film Bait.

Talk about a tasty scenario: A freak tsunami traps a group of people at a coastal Australian supermarket inside the building.  As they try to escape to safety, the survivors soon discover that there is a predator among them more deadly than the threat of drowning—a pack of vicious sharks, hungry for fresh meat. As the mega-jawed fishies begin to pick off the water-logged shoppers one by one, the group realizes that they must work together to find a way out without being eaten alive.

Sounds a lot like Renny Harlin’s 1999 Deep Blue Sea, with a supermarket taking the place of a ocean laboratory (minus the tsunami)!

Directed by Kimble Rendall, Bait features the ensemble cast of Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), Sharni Vinson (Step Up 3D), Alex Russell (Chronicle), Phoebe Tonkin (TV’s The Secret Circle) and Julian McMahon (TV’s Nip/Tuck).

Bait 3D will received a limited release to U.S. theaters in early September, 2012, prior to being issued on disc in Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD formats.

Bonus features on the discs include a gallery of original production storyboards.
