AnnieThirty years after it made moviegoers sing praises to tomorrow as they left the theater, Annie gets its Blu-ray debut.

The 1982 movie is based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, which is based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip by Harold Gray.

Aileen Quinn plays the young red-head in the film, and she’s helped by a game cast, including Albert Finney (The Bourne Legacy), Carol Burnett (TV’s Mama’s Family), Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and Bernadette Peters (TV’s Ugly Betty).

In the PG-rated family movie, Quinn’s orphan Annie finds her luck changing when billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Finney) arrives at the orphanage to take one of the children for a short time. Annie turns up her cuteness and convinces Warbucks to help her find her parents. But the mean head of the orphanage, Burnett’s Miss Hannigan, tries to stop them.

Annie was nominated for two Academy Awards, one for art direction and one for the film’s score.

The Blu-ray offers these special features:

  • featurette “My Hollywood Adventure With Aileen Quinn”
  • musical performance of “It’s a Hard-Knock Life” by Play
  • original trailers and TV spots
  • sing-along.
