Released in a limited number of theaters, Safety Not Guaranteed is a quirky comedy starring the ever quirky Aubrey Plaza (TV’s Parks and Recreation).
In the movie, Plaza plays magazine intern Darius, who volunteers to be part of a group given the assignment to interview the man who placed a classified ad seeking a companion for time travel.
Karan Soni (Worst. Prom. Ever.), Jake M. Johnson (TV’s New Girl), Mark Duplass (Darling Companion) and Jeff Garlin (TV’s Curb Your Enthusiasm) also star in the film.
First-time feature film director Colin Trevorrow helmed the movie, with a script by Derek Connolly, also a newbie in features.
Safety Not Guaranteed grossed $3.8 million in its limited number of screenings at the box office, getting rave reviews from both critics and moviegoers. Miami Herald‘s Rene Rodriguez said the movie “is droll and hilarious, but there isn’t a cheap laugh in it, and the ending is so perfect it sends you soaring.”
