It’s British boys on holiday in The Inbetweeners Movie, based on the popular TV sitcom.
Called the UK version of American Pie, R-rated The Inbetweeners Movie follows four socially awkward best friends — Will (Simon Bird), Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison) and Simon (Joe Thomas) — who, after high school graduation, go on a crazy trip to an exotic Greek island. Filled with dreams of sun, drink and ladies, the boys quickly discover they’re in way over their heads. But they won’t let that stop them from having a good time.
Bird, Buckley, Harrison and Thomas reprise their roles from the British television series, which spawned a U.S. version that airs on MTV.
The Inbetweeners Movie had a very limited release in theaters in the U.S. but was a box-office hit in the U.K. Critics gave it mixed reviews, calling it funny in parts but basically just another sex-filled teen comedy. Moviegoers, however, liked the film much better.
