The Fog movie sceneJohn Carpenter’s (The Thing) well-remembered 1980 horror film The Fog features the formidable, genre-friendly cast of film includes Adrienne Barbeau (Creepshow), Jamie Lee Curtis (True Lies), Janet Leigh (Psycho), John Houseman (Rollerball), and Hal Holbrook (Lincoln).

The movie kicks off with a weather-beaten old fisherman (Houseman) telling a tale of betrayal and death to fascinated children as they huddle together by their campfire. As a piece of driftwood in a child’s hands glows with a spectral light, an eerie fog envelops the bay and from it’s midst emerge dripping demonic victims of a century old shipwreck seeking revenge–which they find in the form of wreaking havoc on a small Northern California coastal town.

Shout! Factory’s release represents the atmospheric ghost story’s Blu-ray debut. A previous DVD edition was issued by MGM back in 2002.
