ParanoiaLiams Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) is out for corporate secrets in thriller movie Paranoia.

Hemsworth stars alongside Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy), CEO Nicolas Wyatt, who forces Hemsworth’s Adam Cassidy, an entry-level telecom worker, to infiltrate Wyatt longtime rival’s (Harrison Ford, Cowboys & Aliens) company and steal trade secrets. Before long, Adam’s caught between two ruthless players who’ll stop at nothing to win.

And, of course, there’s a girl. Adam’s also desperate to win over the heart of Ivy League beauty Emma Jennings (Amber Heard, The Rum Diary) and help his blue-collar father (Richard Dreyfuss, Jaws).

Directed by Robert Luketic (Killers), PG-13 Paranoia is based on the novel by Joseph Finder and adapted by Jason Dean Hall (Spread) and Barry Levy (Vantage Point).

The movie also stars Julian McMahon (Bait), Josh Holloway (TV’s Lost) and Embeth Davidtz (The Amazing Spider-Man).

Paranoia Blu-ray boxDespite its star names, Paranoia was panned by critics, who gave the film only 4% approval according to Rotten Tomatoes, and grossed a measly $3.5 million in theaters. Minneapolis Star Tribune critic Colin Covert called the movie “sloppy and slack.” And Time Out New York‘s Nick Schager said it’s “borderline unwatchable.” Ouch!

Still, moviegoers like the film a bit better. You can be the judge on DVD and Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray/DVD Combo contains these special features:

  • deleted scenes
  • “Privacy is Dead”
  • “The Paranoia Begins”
  • “The Players”
  • and downloadable digital copy.
