Break-dancing makes a return in Battle of the Year.
The movie follows the underdog American team, as they try to win the international Battle of the Year competition under the guidance of coaches Blake (Josh Holloway, TV’s Lost) and Franklyn (Josh Peck, Red Dawn).
Laz Alonso (Avatar), Caity Lotz (TV’s Arrow) and singer Chris Brown also are in the cast.
Battle of the Year was panned by critics, who gave it only 5% approval, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Moviegoers liked it better, but even they gave the film mixed reviews, and it grossed a low $8.9 million in theaters.
Sony has added a bunch of extras to the high-definition Blu-ray and a couple to the DVD too.

- featurette “This Is Planet B Boy” in which the filmmakers explore the B-Boy history and culture
- featurette “The Art of B-Boying: A Guide to Breaking,” with the cast and crew going through elements of the B-Boy lifestlye and offering up an insider’s guide to dance moves and b-boy names (DVD)
- featurette “Preparing for Battle: Training & Rehearsals,” about the hours behind the dance sequences (DVD)
- digital copy and instant streaming with UltraViolet.
