Into the Storm movie sceneSpecial effects rule in the 2014 action-thriller disaster film Into the Storm.

The story is set in city of Silverton, Oklahoma, which is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of the most furious twisters they’ve ever seen. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run toward the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot

Oh yeah, after the furious visual effects, there are a handful of human stars, including Richard Armitage (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Sarah Wayne Callies (TV’s The Walking Dead), Matt Walsh (Ted).

Stars and effects notwithstanding, the Steven Quale-directed movie performed tepidly with the critics and at the box office. It garnered a barely-there rating of 4.3/10 based on 103 published reviews at Rotten Tomatoes and a relatively disappointing $47 million at the domestic box office.

The Blu-ray and DVD contain the following bonus features:

  • Into the Storm: Tornado Files (Blu-ray only)
  • Titus: The Ultimate Chasing Vehicle (Blu-ray only)
  • Fake Storms: Real Conditions
