Up-and-comer Meryl Streep (Into the Woods) stars in the music-filled comedy-drama Ricki and The Flash.
Meryl rocks in Ricki and The Flash
In the film, Streep is Ricki Rendazzo, an aging guitar heroine who made a world of mistakes as she followed her dreams of rock-and-roll stardom. Returning home, Ricki gets a shot at redemption and a chance to make things right as she faces the music with her family.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme (Something Wild) and penned by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Young Adult), the film also stars Kevin Kline (The Last of Robin Hood), Rick Springfield, Audra McDonald and Streep’s real-life daughter Mamie Gummer (Twelve Thirty) who tackles the tricky role of Streep’s daughter.
Generally well-received by the critics, the film make much music at the domestic box office, ringing up a disappointing $26 million at the box office in August, 2015.
