The 1959 film noir crime drama Where the Sidewalk Ends starring Dana Andrews (Crack in the World) and Gene Tierney (Leave Her To Heaven) and directed by Otto Preminger (Bunny Lake is Missing) marks the second collaboration of the trio who created the 1944 noir classic Laura.

In the film, Det. Sgt. Mark Dixon (Andrews) is demoted after his precinct receives complaints that he’s been roughing people up. A disgruntled Dixon then gets involved with Morgan (Tierney), the wife of a sleazy gambler. Bad things go down, resulting in the death of a rich gambler, and Morgan’s husband looks like he’s guilty of the crime. Soon Dixon has fallen in love with Morgan – but not before losing his temper again and committing a terrible deed that he tries to cover up…
