The 2003 science fiction drama-romance Code 46 is directed by Michael Winterbottom (A Summer in Genoa) from a screenplay by Frank Cottrell Boyce (Welcome to Sarajevo).

The film operates in the tradition of Jean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville with shades of Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World and classic film noirs. The story revolves around William Geld (Tim Robbins, Green Lantern), an insurance investigator assigned to track down and dismantle a passport forgery ring, Geld falls for the ringleader Maria Gonzales (Samantha Morton, Cosmopolis), leading to further complications when one of Maria’s customers is found dead.

The movie co-stars Jeanne Balibar (Clean), Om Puri (Gandhi) and Nina Fog (The 11th Hour).
