The movie concerns a brilliant artist, Thomas (Hedlund), who attempts to escape his privileged existence by heading out to the desert, only to encounter homicidal, chameleon-like drifter Jack (Isaac). Their first encounter at a campfire sets up a nonstop, violent duel of physical and intellectual equals, a chase that moves from the vistas of the American desert to a downright noirish Los Angeles, where Thomas’s notoriety as an artist is revealed. Jack, for his part, continues to remake his own identity as he relentlessly pursues his victim…
Also starring Louise Bourgoin (The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec) and Walton Goggins (TV’s Justified), the film is written and directed by William Monahan, who picked up a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for his work on Scorsese’s The Departed back in 2006.
Mojave received a limited release to theaters to very little “positivity” and even less of a ripple at the box office.
