Mortensen is Ben, a non-traditional father who raises his six children in the forest of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society. When he is forced to bring his family out of seclusion and into the world, it leads to a confrontation with his father-in-law (Frank Langella, All Good Things), who wants his grandchildren to have a normal life. Now Ben must question if his methods are the best for his family.

Supported by an ensemble cast that includes Kathryn Hahn (Wanderlust), and Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club), the movie was written and directed by actor/filmmaker Matt Ross

Though it performed tepidly at the box office (it rang up only $6 million during its limited release this summer), Captain Fantastic clicked with the critics, garnering an 82% positive rating at Rotten Tomatoes based on 157 published reviews.

The Blu-ray and DVD include the featurette “Insane or Insanely Great?” featuring the cast and filmmaker.
