Woody Allen’s first full-throated venture into drama, Interiors (1978), presents us with a compelling, always entertaining look at a dysfunctional family dominated by the controlling madness of its matriarch, Eve (Geraldine Page, Summer and Smoke).
Eve’s reluctant husband (E.G. Marshall) and their three daughters (Love and Death‘s Diane Keaton, Lebanon, PA.‘s Mary Beth Hurt, Kristin Griffith) make doomed efforts to cope with Eve’s demands, while also trying to get on with their own lives; Richard Jordan (The Friends of Eddie Coyle) and Sam Waterston (The Killing Fields) play significant others also caught in Eve’s web. But all bets are off when an ebullient stranger (Maureen Stapleton, Cocoon) enters the picture.
This Twilight Time release contains the film’s original theatrical trailer as a bonus feature.
