When of King Seretse Khama of Botswana  and British white woman Ruth Williams decided to marry just as apartheid was being introduced into South Africa, it caused an international uproar. But their passionate romance triumphed over every obstacle and changed the course of African history.

Directed by Amma Asante (Belle), the 2016 drama-romance received positive reviews from the critics upon its February, 2017 release in the U.S. It garnered an 83% Fresh rating at reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes with 131 published reviews.
