Newly re-mastered in HD, the 1963 romantic comedy-drama Love with the Proper Stranger stars the dynamic duo of Steve McQueen (Le Mans) and Natalie Wood (Meteor).

Taken for granted by her Catholic Italian family, innocent Macy’s salesgirl Angie Rossini (Wood) seeks solace in the arms of a charming and footloose jazz musician, Rocky Papasano (McQueen). She becomes pregnant and doesn’t expect Rocky to marry her; she just needs his help to raise the money for an illegal abortion, while her family pressures her to marry gormless Anthony Columbo (Tom Bosley, TV’s Happy Days).

Directed by Robert Mulligan (To Kill a Mockingbird), produced by Alan J. Pakula (All The President’s Men) and written by Arnold Schulman (Goodbye, Columbus), the film features striking black-and-white cinematography by Milton Krasner (All About Eve) and a rousing score by Elmer Bernstein (Sudden Fear). As for the cast, it co-stars Edie Adams (It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World), Herschel Bernardi (Irma La Douce) and Harvey Lembeck (Stalag 17).

Bonus features on Kino Lorber’s new edition include the following:

-Audio Commentary by Film Historians Kat Ellinger and Samm Deighan
