Lemon: a person or thing that proves to be defective, imperfect, or unsatisfactory.

Such is the definition that’s used as the title for, er, Lemon, a dark comedy starring familiar character actor Brett Gelman (TV’s Blunt Talk).

Isaac Lachmann (Gelman) is a dud. Isaac Lachmann is 40. Isaac Lachmann is a man in free fall immobilized by mediocrity. His career is going nowhere. His girlfriend of ten years is leaving him. And his overbearing family doesn’t help matters. What did he do to deserve this? Things were supposed to work out differently for him. Isaac Lachmann had big dreams. Now he just watches as his life unravels.

Co-written by Gelman and co-written and directed by Gelman’s life partner Janicza Bravo, Lemon co-stars Judy Greer (Tomorrowland), Fred Melamed (A Serious Man) and Shiri Appleby (TV’s UnREAL). It opened to so-so critical notices this past summer, garnering a 57% Fresh Rating at reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Bonus features on the DVD include a collection of deleted scenes, separate interviews with Bravo and Gelman, and a theatrical trailer.
