Writer/director Shaina Feinberg’s 2019 independent comedy Senior Escort Service arrives on disc and digital today from Random Media.

Distraught after the sudden loss of her dad, filmmaker Feinberg does anything she can to connect to him again, including cataloguing her dad’s belongings (a basket of lozenges included) and forcing her friends to wear his clothes and mimic his gestures, and taking a stab at making a web series he’d always wanted to make named “Senior Escort Service.” Combing through her father’s journal, she learns of a years-old process known as Familienaufstellung (from German, meaning “Family Constellation”), which requires people to reenact their traumas as a means of making peace with it. This inspires Shaina to gather a group of women in a loft where they play out her trauma for her.

Blending archival footage with a series of “journeys”– both real and imagined—Senior Escort Service offers a uniquely funny-sad meditation on loss.
