Animated family movie Planet 51 went into orbit on DVD and Blu-ray on March 9, 2010, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The science-fiction comedy was priced at $28.96 on DVD and at $39.95 for the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
The family adventure, which grossed $41.3 million in theaters, has a voice cast filled with recognizable names: Dwayne Johnson (Faster), Jessica Biel (The A-Team), Justin Long (Alpha and Omega), Gary Oldman (Red Riding Hood), Seann William Scott (Role Models) and John Cleese (Monty Python and the Holy Grail).
Planet 51 tells the story of a NASA astronaut (Johnson) who gets stranded on a distant planet where the residents think he’s the alien and he’s the first of an invasion.
Both the DVD and Blu-ray/DVD combo contain these extras:
- “Run Rover Run!” time-based obstacle game

- short film “The World of Planet 51”
- behind-the-scenes featurette: “Life on Planet 51”

The Blu-ray/DVD combo also has the exclusive “Target 51 Game,” a multi-level shooter in which users help astronaut Chuck get to Planet 51. It can be run with a remote control or an iPhone or iPod Touch with a downloadable app from iTunes.
