Oscar nominee (no wins, though) The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus arrived on DVD and Blu-ray on April 27, 2010. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment priced the discs at $28.95 and $34.95, respectively.
The movie from imaginative — to say the least — director Terry Gilliam (a former Monty Python member) is also Heath Ledger’s (The Dark Knight) last movie. Ledger died while making Imaginarium, and his part was then shared with Johnny Depp (The Tourist), Colin Farrell (Crazy Heart) and Jude Law (Road to Perdition). Also starring are Christopher Plummer (who got an Oscar nod, for his portrayal of Leo Tolstoy in The Last Station, but didn’t take home a statue), Tom Waits (The Book of Eli) and Lily Cole (Rage).
The movie grossed $7.4 million in a limited release in theaters.
The PG-13 fantasy film tells the story of Parnassus (Plummer), who can guide the imaginations of others but is cursed after making deals with the devil (Waits); Parnassus gained eternal youth in exchange for his daughter (Cole) being delivered to the devil on her 16th birthday, which is coming up. Now, Parnassus must fight to save her.
Sony packed in the special features, including sections featuring and honoring the late Ledger. Here’s the menu for the DVD and Blu-ray:

- deleted scenes with optional commentary by Gilliam
