Two of the movies Anchor Bay released in 2010 featured stars kicking butt to save their families. The stars? Kevin Costner in The New Daughter and wrestler Steve Austin in The Stranger.
Out May 18 was The New Daughter, in which Costner tries to rebuild his relationship with his teenage daughter (Pan’s Labyrinth‘s Ivana Baquero in her first English-speaking role) and young son (Gattlin Griffith) after a divorce, only to find out that there are other forces he must battle. Samantha Mathis (Lebanon, P.A.) also stars in this movie, which is adapted from a short story by John Connolly.
The DVD and Blu-ray, priced at $29.97 and $34.98, respectively, offer these special features:
- commentary by director Luis Berdejo
- behind-the-scenes featurette.
In The Stranger, Austin plays a man hunted by the FBI and the Russian Mob, all while he’s trying to seek revenge of the people who took away his career, his family and his identity.
The press release calls the film an “explosive action-thriller about collateral damage, stone cold vengeance, and double-crossed killing machine.” Alrighty!
Adam Beach (Flags of Our Fathers) and Erica Cerra (Percy Jackson & the Olympians) also star in this DVD premiere.
The DVD and Blu-ray, priced at $26.97 and $34.98, respectively, was released on June 1.
