The Oscar-winning performance of Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski) in Crazy Heart came out on DVD and Blu-ray from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment on April 20, 2010.
It’s a touching, enlightening, depressing and wonderful movie, and I was not surprised AT ALL when Bridges won Best Actor for his performance of “Bad Blake,” an older musician whose time in the limelight has long-since evaporated. Bad’s stages are now made up of bowling alley backrooms and small bars dotting the Western desert … a far cry from the spotlight he once owned.
But this broken and older man finds a little salvation on this journey and he gets what everyone in life deserves — a second chance.
What’s truly surprising was that it took the Oscars to get people talking about this wonderful film, but the DVD and Blu-ray gives audiences what Bad wanted — a second chance. Don’t blow it if you missed Crazy Heart in theaters.
Special features on the Blu-ray include:
- deleted scenes
- alternate music cuts
- commentary from Bridges and co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal (Nanny McPhee Returns) and Robert Duvall (Get Low). Gyllenhaal was also nominated for Best Actress for the film and this is one of her best performances.
The DVD features deleted scenes.
Including a digital copy of the film, the Blu-ray retailed for $39.99. The DVD was priced at $29.98.
