The Rock as a tooth fairy? Fans thought enough of the idea to get the movie up to $58 million at the box office, even though the average review on Rotten Tomatoes was a dismal 15%. On May 4, 2010, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released Tooth Fairy on DVD and Blu-ray.
In the comedy , Dwayne Johnson (Faster) plays a minor league hockey player who is nicknamed Tooth Fairy thanks to his ability to knock out other players’ teeth. After discouraging a kid’s hopes, he must work as a real Tooth Fairy for one week, tutu, wings, magic wand and all. The family movie also stars Julie Andrews (Sound of Music), Ashley Judd (Helen) and professional skateboarder Ryan Sheckler.
Fox released the movie in high-def as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, including digital copy. It was priced at $39.99. The DVD version was priced at $29.98.
For special features, the DVD includes a “Train to be a Tooth Fairy” feature and Fairy-oke. The Blu-ray will have those plus a gag reel, deleted scenes and six behind-the-scenes featurettes:
