Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the first seasons of two medical TV shows Mercy and Trauma on DVD in August, 2010. Both of NBC’s shows had a shaky start and and were canceled before a second season aired.
Mercy: The Complete Series was issued on Aug. 3 in a five-DVD set.
The show centers around three nurses played by Taylor Schiling, Michelle Trachtenberg (TV’s Gossip Girl) and Jaime Lee Kirchner, each with their hiccups and skeletons. Schiling, for example, is just back from Iraq and bouncing between her husband and a warzone fling (James Tupper) who followed her home. Dawson’s Creek‘s James Van Der Beek joined the cast mid-season.
Released on Aug. 10 in a four-disc set, Trauma: Season 1 stars Cliff Curtis (Push) and Derek Luke (Notorious) as first responder paramedics from San Francisco City Hospital.
As those shows bowed on DVD, The Cleaner closed. The Cleaner: The Final Season arrived on disc on June 1.
The television series stars Benjamin Bratt (La Mission) as a former addict who now intervenes to try and help other addicts in their darkest hour. The four-disc set will include 13 episodes plus these special features:
- “Coming Clean”
- “Warren Boyd: The Real Cleaner”
- gag reel
- cast and crew commentary on select episodes
- and deleted scenes.
The Cleaner ran on A&E for two seasons and is distributed on DVD by CBS/Paramount.
