Rarely have the titles in a theatrical-film-turned-DVD-premiere series been as similar to each other as they are in the Wild Things quartet.

Like the three previous entries in this series, Wild Things: Foursome is set in a rich enclave in steamy Southern Florida where the young and beautiful and lots of babes in bikinis like to play when they’re not plotting murders, faked suicides, rapes, double-crosses and multi-partner sexual congresses in an attempt to get rich.

This time ‘round, it’s hard-partying rich kid Ashley Parker Angel who stands to inherit the family fortune from his recently deceased father, who was killed in a suspicious race car accident that may or may not have been engineered by Ashley with the help of his co-stars, the Megan Fox-like Jillian Murray and the Denise Richards-esque Marnette Patterson. (Denise Richards starred in the original Wild Things). The trio’s ménage à trois (which is nearly identical to the one in the original) gives way to the titular foursome with the addition of the equally scheming hardbody Jessie Nickson. Good ole boy John Schneider pops up here and there as a local cop investigating the nefarious goings-on.

The unrated erotic content is more or less limited to lots of enthusiastic kissing, some uninspired lipstick lesbianism, a dash of nudity and one Cinemax Lite-style sex scene. In other words, these “wild things” ain’t any more wild than their predecessors. Actually, the movie plays more like an installment of the new 90210 or the late lamented O.C. Either way, Foursome‘s proceedings are definitely not as provocative or nearly as clever as the 1998 franchise-launcher. The direction by Andy Hurst (who penned the two previous Wild Things installments) fulfills the film’s requirements — and nothing more.

The DVD doesn’t have any supplemental material, save for a bunch of previews of other Sony titles and an option to view the film with subtitles in a whopping six different languages, which gives billions of people across the world the option to listen to what the stars are saying when they’re not wriggling about. And there’s a lot of wriggling about.
